Introduction to Concert & Orchestra ManagementNew Training Course - (OPEN TO ABO MEMBERS ONLY) Date: Thursday 14 November Time: 1pm - 5pm Course Fee: £75 + VAT Course Tutors: Elaine Baines, Chief Operating Officer, City of London Sinfonia and Dawn Day, Tours Manager, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra INTRODUCTION At the request of ABO members, a new training course has been developed to help those working in Concert & Orchestra Management. This half day course will look at how to use the ABO/MU Casual Concerts Agreement and how to fully prepare for tours (both UK and international), and will look at the broad parameters of recording agreements. There will be some practical exercises as well as discussion of some of the scenarios that participants might face in their roles. SUITABLE FOR This course is suitable for those who are fairly new to working in concert and orchestra management but may also be of interest to those who are looking to expand their knowledge in other areas beyond their current roles. We realise that depending on whether you work in a chamber orchestra or a symphony orchestra, your role can cover many different aspects of work. This training is designed to give an overview of some of the key areas of working in this area of management and is an opportunity to help answer questions participants might have and share knowledge and experience. LEARNING OUTCOMES The aim of this course is to give participants more confidence and knowledge in their day to day roles and have a wider understanding of working in concert and tours management. HOW TO BOOK This is the first time we have run this training course and numbers will be limited. Any members who are interested in attending should email firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday 23 September to express their interest, and in the email share in advance the main two or three areas which they would like to come away from the training course with further knowledge of. We will then be in touch before the end of the month to confirm places.
