The ABO connects members to other members and the wider industry through networking opportunities, keeping our members well-informed and up-to-date with best practice to help build resilience and financial sustainability.
Our primary networking event is the annual conference, the major gathering of the classical music industry in the UK, with around 300 delegates drawn from orchestras, opera and ballet companies both from within the UK and abroad, as well as funding agencies, broadcasters, venues, festivals, artist managers, publishers and suppliers. Our Principal Media Partner is Classic FM, with Rhinegold Publishing our print media partner.
Specialist Managers Meetings are one of the ABO's key services that are most valued by members. Each group of managers meets up to twice a year to discuss topical issues and hear from relevant speakers. The ABO acts as the facilitator and relies on members of each group to set their own agenda. Members' staff are allocated to the relevant group's mailing list and receive information about forthcoming meetings and issues relevant to their group. Current specialist groups include Archivists, Chairs & Trustees, Chamber Orchestras, Communications, Concert & Orchestra, Digital, Education, Finance, Fundraising and Marketing. If you have any ideas or contributions for future meetings or if you do not receive emails about a Specialist Managers Meeting and would like to, please contact the Office & Events Administrator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The ABO connects its members to wider music industry and third sector networks, both national and international, and to key music education bodies, ensuring that the UK’s orchestral sector is represented at the very highest level.
