LSO Discovery is seeking an assistant to offer administrative and practical support to the LSO Discovery Digital programme starting in August 2008.

The post offers a rich experience in a busy and exciting music education programme attached to a world-class performing organisation. Tasks range from administrative support to project management and, where possible, are tailored to the skills and interests of each candidate.

The post is ideally suited to postgraduate students and those on university courses requiring extended work experience. The internship typically lasts 6 – 12 months. Reasonable travel and lunch expenses are paid.

Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Royal College of Music

The Royal College of Music is one of Britain’s leading conservatoires. It provides specialised musical education and professional training at the highest international level for performers and composers.

The College is now looking to recruit a Performance Co-ordinator who will work in the Performance Management department. Successful applicants will be joining a lively and creative team in an exciting working environment, and will work closely with students, professors and visiting artists.
This post involves stage-managing performances organised by Performance Management, setting up venues for rehearsals, and co-ordinating the use of performance spaces, as well as managing the disposal and use of college instruments.

Experience as a stage-manager and a working knowledge of orchestral and ensemble set-ups is essential combined with the ability to balance a number of different tasks and to work as part of a team.
Interest in and knowledge of classical music within higher education is important.

Salary £27,738 - £31,625.

The Royal Academy of Music is seeking applications for the new role of Concerts Assistant, part of the Concerts Department team which is at the heart of performance activities at the Academy. The Concerts Assistant is responsible for the sourcing of information and timely and accurate production of concert programmes. The role also encompasses the responsibility for the collection and submission of data to the Performing Right Society and provides administrative support for the Head of Events in the running of the Academy’s performance programme.

With a degree in music or equivalent you will have a thorough knowledge of a wide range of music and instruments as well as strong communication skills including a strong competence in written English. With previous administrative experience in a similarly busy role, you will demonstrate an ability to prioritise and solve problems while showing a thorough attention to detail. This is a full time position of 32.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday Fixed term, initially for twelve months with a salary in the range £19,320 - £22,824 per annum inclusive.

The Royal Academy of Music is seeking applications for the role of Concerts and Prizes Administrator to cover maternity leave - fixed term for twelve months. The role sits within the Concerts Department which is at the heart of performance activities at the Academy.

The Concerts and Prizes Administrator is responsible for ensuring the efficient programming and administration of lunchtime and early evening concerts, including production of programmes, booking of assessors and collation of marks. The post holder is also responsible for the administration of the Academy’s internal and intercollegiate competitions, ensuring that all competitions are managed in a way that complies with the rules and regulations and the funding constraints, in addition to the wishes of donors and sponsors. With a degree in music or equivalent and a thorough knowledge of a wide range of music and instruments, you will also have previous arts administration experience gained in a similarly busy and challenging role. This is a pressured role due to the sheer number of events and the complexity of scheduling. Regular evening work may be required as some competitions will take place in the evening. Salary in the range £22,271 - £26,563 per annum inclusive.

The London Symphony Orchestra announces an innovative commissioning project giving established UK based composers with proven experience of writing for a symphony orchestra the opportunity to work with the LSO. The UBS Soundscapes: Pioneers series will comprise of five minute pieces developed by composers working directly with the orchestra, performed at concerts in the 2008/9 and 2009/10 season.
