Ensemble Cymru exists to benefit the people of Wales by means of performance of chamber music and chamber orchestra music by practitioners skilled in performing to and communicating with their audiences. Ensemble Cymru works to • Engage highly skilled musicians who are able to communicate effectively with their audience • Develop audiences in communities and schools in Wales for classical music and particularly in communities in more disadvantaged areas. • Promote North and mid-Wales, its cultures, industry and business elsewhere in the United Kingdom and abroad. • Commission and perform music by composers of Wales • Facilitate collaboration between composers of Wales and musicians of the highest calibre • Increase existing resource material in music available to education institutions. (There is currently a particular focus on improving Welsh language resources) • Evolve into a strings, percussion and wind ensemble / orchestra of up to thirty players able to break down into differing combinations of instruments subject to the requirements of any programme and/or venue.
