The Creative Learning division, incorporating Barbican Education and Guildhall Connect, has been established to develop and deliver a range of world-class creative learning programmes involving music, theatre, visual arts, cinema, dance and literature across the Barbican Centre and Guildhall School. We are now looking for a Projects and Administrative Assistant to work across our arts programme. The BBC Proms Learning and Audience Development department sits within the Proms team and is committed to engaging the widest possible audience in the music of the Proms and BBC Radio 3. The Proms (started in 1895), is one of the largest classical music festivals in the world. The concerts take place each summer from mid-July to mid-September at the Royal Albert Hall, with associated events (Talks, Showcases, Composer Portraits etc) and chamber music concerts held in other venues locally.
The BBC Proms are also unique in that every concert is broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, and some over a third are televised on BBC TV (BBC1, BBC2 and BBC4). This role has been specially created for the Olympics Year Proms season. You'll be required to work across the Proms Concerts & Learning teams in delivering Proms special projects and Proms Plus in the lead up and during the 2012 season.
This post will report to both the Concerts & Events Manager, Proms Learning Manager and be a main point of contact on special joint projects where the teams work together. You'll also be required to work on specific aspects of each team's Proms delivery.
The job is mainly office based but there is also involvement on site at the Royal Albert Hall, Royal College of Music as well as other Event venues.

The LSO Concerts Department requires an Intern to support its team of eight office-based staff and six backstage staff. The London Symphony Orchestra currently plays and promotes about 60 concerts per year in its Barbican Centre home, as well as over 50 concerts per year on tour in more than 20 countries as well as many recording and film projects.
The Concerts Department is in the front line organising all these core activities, from initial planning through to being present on the day and making sure all goes perfectly. This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody wanting to work in events in the arts or voluntary sectors. The intern will gain first hand experience and training in the organisation of orchestral tours, as well as an introduction to the planning of UK concerts, recording sessions and other events for a major arts organisation.

The School produces more than 14 public dramas and operas each year together with a constant flow of concerts, recitals and master classes. The Stage Management Lecturer will join the team responsible for the development and delivery of Stage Management teaching and practice whilst overseeing student production activities. They will oversee both opera and drama productions and be responsible for the assessment of students under their supervision. Experience of working in a producing theatre is essential as is the ability to work with and inspire young people.
