Introduction to Press & PR

This one-day course will cover all aspects of press and public relations, including:

  • How to ensure maximum coverage
  • How to write and use a press release
  • Whom to target
  • When/if press conferences are necessary
  • The role of photographs and photo calls

The day will include practical exercises and role-playing, where delegates will learn how to field unexpected telephone calls from journalists, crisis management and emergency PR.

Course leader

Nicola Goold spent 15 years in press & PR (for Methuen Books, English National Opera, and the BBC Proms, BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Singers & BBC Symphony Chorus) before becoming General Manager of the Guildford Philharmonic. This will be her twelfth year presenting this course for the ABO.
