Press and PR will explore how you can maximise media coverage and raise the profile of your organisation. The day will include practical exercises and real life examples.

Participants will learn how to create a story, write an effective press release, source eye-catching images, build good relationships with journalists, and prepare for media interviews.

We will also explore the principles of:

  • planning a media campaign
  • dealing with a crisis

This course is suitable for people who need to deal with the media as part of their job, but haven't received any formal training.

Course leader

Course leader Kate Whyman is a freelance PR consultant, specialising in music and the arts. Her client list includes BBC Radio 3, Cadogan Hall, Mayor of London, British Arts Festivals Association, Festival and Events International, The Old Market, and Brighton Festival of World Sacred Music. She has been PR consultant for the ABO since 2004.
